[Update 1.0.3] Floating Lyrics Player and Editor Plugin

Today(2026.04.12) is birthday of my favorite singer: Yuezheng Ling, or 乐正绫 in Chinese, I love her so much, so I decide to publish my own plugin on her birthday today!

Here I present my hand-made plugin: AIMP Floating Lyrics Player and Editor Plugin, as a software developer, this is my hobby project. If you have found any issue, it would be a great help to tell me ! 
It should work for 5.0+ version of AIMP player on windows, AIMP 6 Beta is also tested (should function properly on AIMP v6.00.3055 Beta 2). 

Features
1. It plays synchronized lyrics file(currently only supports ".lrc" file format with UTF-8 or ASCII encoding) for your song, by default it reads from your local lrc file alongside with your song file, or if your song file has synchronized lyrics embedded(like ID3v2 tag supported by AIMP), it will also play it. For a detailed lrc file searching rule: my plugin respects configs in "AIMP's Preferences - Player - Additional Information - Lyrics" section, if your lrc file is not recognized, you should check if those configs are enabled and configured properly; 
2. For playing lyrics, you can style text color, text size, text shadow and more, I have written a preference window to configure these(and more configurations will be brought in the future updates); 
3. For playing lyrics, currently I designed 2 playing styles, one is to fade in fade out lyrics text, another style is to scroll lyrics horizontally; 
4. You can make or edit your own ".lrc" file, just right click the playing lyrics window, choose "Make / Edit Lyrics". Or in AIMP playlist, right click playlist item(aka, songs in your library), choose "Send to - Lyrics Editor".
5. About the lyrics editor, when it opens, it will fill basic information automatically if it finds that, otherwise, you need to input information yourself.
6. Some hint to use the lyrics editor: Currently I exposed 3 hotkeys to inert/replace/delete timestamp on active line, they are bound with F7/F8/F9 keys globally by default. You can always change these hotkeys in AIMP's "Hotkeys" configuration, but remember, local hotkeys won't work, because the lyrics editor is not recognized by AIMP as local window. The inserted or replaced timestamp is always the timestamp that AIMP is current playing at, so ideally you just play the song once and inserted timestamps all by yourself. There are also some handy buttons there, you can hover on them to see brief descriptions. 

*Tip: you can set lyrics playing window's background color to a totally transparent value, which looks fancy, but it will make context menu harder to open, if you really can't fetch context menu at that time, go to AIMP's "preferences - Floating Lyrics", you can open plugin's preference window there.

How to Install & Use
To install and use this plugin, 
1. Download and install ".NET 8.0 Desktop Runtime":
    - for AIMP x64: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-desktop-8.0.26-windows-x64-installer 
    - for AIMP x86: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-desktop-8.0.26-windows-x86-installer
2. Download and install "Visual C++ Redistributable 2012" from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679, make sure to pick x86 or x64, which depends on AIMP x86 or x64 your are using. (a known issue listed below also mentions this runtime package, if you are not sure, I recommend you just download and install it); 
3. Unzip "aimp_floating_lyrics_x[86_or_64]_ver_[VERSION].zip" and drop extracted "aimp_floating_lyrics" folder to "[your-AIMP-x86-or-x64-installation-folder]/Plugins"; 
4. Finally, open AIMP and check "Floating Lyrics" menu item in AIMP's main menu to show lyrics player window and let's roll!

Known Issue and Solution
If AIMP complains about an external exception when opening preference window, that's because my plugin is importing "msvcr110.dll" to make sure .net UI is compatible with AIMP's Delphi UI, 
when that happens, make sure to download and install "Visual C++ Redistributable 2012" here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679, plugin should work properly then.

Other Information
The plugin was originally created using Evgeniy Bogdan's aimp_dotnet SDK(https://github.com/martin211/aimp_dotnet, thanks for your awesome SDK) last year, because it's using .NET Framework, which is said to have worse performance than .NET core, so soon afterwards I decide to write my own SDK in .NET 8.0 bridging AIMP's C++ SDK, and all user interfaces in this plugin is made using C#'s WPF framework.
The plugin was inspired by MiniLyrics, which is really good to use in the early days, but it's now getting out-of-support.
I myself is also a full-time software developer working in China, thus my time is not that sufficient, I can only work on this plugin occasionally. 
Thus apologizing for temporary missing features that exists in MiniLyrics, more features will be brought on in the future, thank you.

老哥强啊，不过为什么我这里不行，只能看见个黑色的窗口闪着光标，能看设置界面，而且AIMP重启后都变成没勾选。AIMP5.40版本64位，win11，运行时那些都有😂😂

The console window is only meant for debugging and is disabled by default, if you are not sure, you can turn it off in preference window.

Can you share your multi-language lrc file content? So I can investigate and somehow support your format?

As for double-line lyrics playing style, this is a feature currently on schedule. I will update this plugin from time to time. Stay tuned and be good! Thank you!

The plugin itself works fine for me, but it doesn't reads (for some reason) the .lrc files properly, like it just reads a single line or two, i tried with embed lyrics but it does the same, I've reinstalled .net but it doesn't work, any help?

Most of my lrc files are like this and this aimp skin called aimpify reads it as it normally would, so i don't really know whats happening here. The content on all my lrc files are like this:

[00:40.09] She called me baby
[00:41.03] And "Was it me baby, with the song on the radio?"

[01:00.27] And if I should vanish

I thought it was lrc file's problem, but I was wrong, your lrc file works good for me.
To troubleshoot: 
1. Check if corresponding x86 or x64 .net 8.0 desktop runtime and Visual C++ 2012 runtime is installed correctly(just run installers again, also if you installed both x86 and x64, it is also fine); 
2. Do a clean installation of AIMP player, first make sure to backup your "Profile" folder in your AIMP installation location. Then download latest version of AIMP 5 from website(you can use portable version to make a quick test without re-installation), launch newly installed AIMP at least once then close. Install my plugin again, play your song with default AIMP's settings, see if problem still exists. If not, your old AIMP installation might got something wrong, try to backup and delete your old "Profile" folder and test with your old AIMP installation, it should work now.
3. If problem still exists after a clean installation, do check if your lrc file's file name matches with your music files' name and they are put at the same folder.
If all these steps still don't work, can you post your windows version(like windows 11 24H2 64-bit) and AIMP's version you are using? Thank you.
