Hi,

I don't understand this sorting behavior. Shouldn't AIMP order folders exactly like Windows Explorer?

Example 1: It puts the "R2" release before the "R" release.





Example 2: If I drag or add the two subfolders directly, they are put in the correct order. However, if I drag their parent folder ("Nucleares"), AIMP puts "Hard Drive, Pt. 2" first. What is happening here and how do I fix it?

Awesome! Thanks for looking into this. Has this bug been present in the application for a very long time? I feel like it has always worked this way, and I've been using it for over a decade...

Normally, it sorts them just like Windows does. It's only in specific cases like these—with certain naming structures or without the year at the beginning (if it's at the end, for example)—that it seems to use a different sorting system than the one Windows uses.



In this case, place 'Orbital 2' first regardless of whether I use the two subfolders or the 'parent folder'. I think it's because of the symbols ( [ etc. If I put the year at the beginning or in the middle of the artist and album name, it places them correctly... unless they have the same year at the beginning.

Thanks again for all your hard work on this. AIMP is hands down my favorite player—and I've tried them all over the years!

May be, it worked well until AIMP4 where sorting was made by Windows. However, we need to understand that smart sorting was not available in all versions of Windows.
