Good evening AIMP crew ,
I am an engineer and a part time DJ, so music and information are both very close to my heart. ( not so much spelling tho)
Thankyou for a deacent player. I was a 20+ year Winamp user , before finding you.
You are now my daily driver on my Andriod and my PC's.
I may be slow on the uptake here, but this week I have noticed somthing very worrying to me.....
Rating stars seem to be apearing on my tracks, without me applying them!
I have searched the help file and google for info about "AIMP ratings", and I have not found a clear explination for whats happening here.
Please can you explain ?
I am seeing that AIMP has a "Ratings" data field, which it seems to self populate with a number bewteen 1-5.
and that figure seems to be displayed as hollow stars, in the exact location I would expect to see my own rating stars applied.
This is horriffic to me, as someone who acutally uses the ratings feature as part of how I organise and select tracks.
perhaps your use of "Rating" is wrong here ? becuase the software has no idea what i think of any given track.
you have a play count, and info about wheather I skipped to the end , or skipped to another track ... etc. but that does not inform you of my feelings towards the track in any way.
I may already be familure with it, and ready to move on.
I may love it and play it reguarly, but not consider it to be live set material. in which event i would be applying a low rating. even if i actually love it.
I could go on.. but i hope you understand my point already.
I would much rather this were not happening. I have used my own Ratings system for many years, seeing fantom ratings appear in my track list is kinda jarring .
I appericate that you have tried to seperate the two ratings by using slightly different star icons. but they are not different enough.
and the appear in the same display space.
Even if they were totally differenty colours, I would maintian that you have no right nor information to be applying "ratings" to my music anyway. I find it very arrogant, becuase how can any software possibley rate anyting on my behalf.
you have information like;
Play count .. .and plays this week / month / year, etc.
but AIMP has nothing that directly measures how I feel about a Track.
But a "Rating" is not somthing that your software can self declare.
It may not even be me listerning and using the PC.
I would be greatful if you could explain to me what this is meant to be , and how I can turn it off. or control it.
I ask you to consider removing or adjusting it, so that it does no interfeer with the actual USER ratings system, which many people have been using for a very long time.
Many thank
Lee Black
