Did I configure something improperly?

My AIMP playlist has just over 1000 songs in it and I do have the Shuffle button on. However, it seems to me that I hear some songs and songs from a particular directory much more frequently than others. Is it possible that I have set something incorrectly? Does the numbers of songs in a directory matter? Please point me to anything that I may have messed up. Thanks.
