Can Aimp automatically delete (old) *.aimp playlists when saving a playlist in .xspf with the same name? So one would not need to manually remove the old playlists not needed anymore.

This is bad behavior. A user must always go through the consent stage to delete a file.

OK, but may be it is not too bad behaviour. The consent stage could be kept: Aimp could ask for confirmation (before overwriting an *.aimp4 with an .xspf with the same name) the same way like it does when an *.aimp playlists would ovewrite an *.aimp playlist. So actually that would be very good behaviour.

.aimp is the old playlist format. When I add the playlist to Aimp and want to save it (in the other format) I do not need the aimp playlist anymore, respectively I would have duplicate playlists, one wiht aimp extension, the other / new one with the new format.

I would not say each time, but when one edits the aimp playlist and saves it one should use the new format instead of keep the old one. Or not?

To have the playlists with the albums. After moving albums, renaming album folders, etc. playlists outside of the album folders do not work anymore, I assume. What for is the save / export option?

Your question sounds strange...

As I see, you using AIMP in patter of Winamp use case. Yes, Winamp forces you to load / export your playlists manually if you don't want to loose your changes. AIMP designed to don't care have you save changes or not - it will save all automatically by itself. So, what why I don't want to improve Winamp's like use cases.
