The playlist manager is quite sluggish. How could I remove the playlists having an unchecked checkbox only (not the checked one)?

You could right-click the playlist in Playlist Manager and choose "Remove selected from disk", which deletes the playlist file itself to the Recycle Bin(but not the music files!).

OK, yes, but how do I select only the playlists which are not checked?

In Playlist Manager, left-click on all the lists not checked, while holding down the CTRL key;  when all are highlighted, then right-click on the group and choose "Remove selected from disk."

Sorry, I meant, how could I select them in a single step. There are about 1000 plalists or more, I cannot select each one manually.

If you right-click on the column header "Inactive Playlists", it will automatically highlight ALL the inactive lists under it.  Then, you can right-click on the group and choose Remove Selected from Disk.

Ah, now I see, the inactive an active playlists a even separated from each other so just marking them by pressing ALT+A would have worked.
