After more than fifteen years of using AIMP, the program suddenly stopped working. It started running a bit slowly yesterday, and now it won't even open.
I click the icon to open it as I always do, but only the minimized icon appears in the notification bar. When I hover the mouse over it, it disappears.
I've restarted Windows Explorer and restarted the system, but the problem persists.
I temporarily deleted the AIMP.ini file, but restored it when I saw that the problem continued.
I'm using the 32-bit version. I'm using the default plugins; I have some skins installed, but I'm also using the default one.
Finally, I decided to reinstall it by downloading the latest version from the official website (this one), but when I scanned the installer file with VirusTotal, it showed that, according to ESET Nod32, it's a PUP (potentially unwanted program). I've attached a screenshot of the scan.
So I don't know what to do.

Try uninstalling your antivirus and checking after a reboot. If that helps, your antivirus policy has become stricter.
___
If it doesn't help, then format the topic according to the rules.

It's not my antivirus (Windows Defender). I scanned the AIMP executable installer on VirusTotal (a website that scans files with 60 antivirus engines) to reinstall it and see if that would solve the problem.
AIMP stop working and cannot be opened anymore, from yesterday.

UPDATE: I reinstalled AIMP, but it still won't open. It appears briefly in Task Manager and then disappears. The icon also disappears from the notification bar when I hover over it.

Use the rules to give correct (full) report. Like as AIMP build, OS full version, etc.
Also. Check Windows Journal (logs by OS).

I temporarily moved the AIMP folder located in AppData to the desktop, and the program now works.
I moved the more personal files one by one, such as playlists, .db files, skins, and customizations, and was able to recover everything.
However, when I moved some .ini files, among others, the program stopped working again, so I had to start over with the new files regenerated by the program.
The problem lies in one or more of the following files:
AIMP.bak
AIMP.ini.bak
aimp_scheduler.xml
aimp_scrobbler.log
aimp_scrobbler.xml
AIMPac.bak
AIMPac.ini
AIMPac.ini.bak
AIMP-ContextMenu.ini
Elevator.bak
Elevator.ini
EQPresets.ini
EQPresetsLibrary.ini
I'm including this list in case it's helpful for fixing the bug in future updates.
Regards.

Can you share these files?
Yep, sure.
I've attached a .zip file with the main files suspected of causing the bug.

I think it might be related to the YouTube or Hameleon plugin.

I think it might be related to the YouTube or Hameleon plugin.
I removed those plugins a long time ago and I don't use them anymore.
I have a new suspicious file from that list I shared in my previous message: aimp_scheduler.dll
Today I opened the program and it crashed immediately. When I reopened it, a popup appeared saying, "The aimp_scheduler plugin has failed. We recommend you do not use it!"
I disabled it and now it works fine. Unfortunately, I use that plugin a lot for reminders. What a shame. It seems this file has always been the culprit.
Regards.

Its strange, I failed to reproduce crash on this with your settings.
