I have a question: can you make the player remember its config and NOT to reset it every time I run it? There are a few reasons for this request but the most common is that almost no Linux user uses default settings of anything, media players included. Besides, how are we supposed to test different settings and functions, if they player loses its settings at every startup? I could be brutal and make the config dir immutable, thus AIMP will reset nothing, but still - do I have to get there in order to keep my settings?

What settings are get resets in your case? App stores all it configs inside /home/<profile>/.config/AIMP folder. Of course, the folder must not be in read only state.

What is your OS?

Everything resets. The player simply forgets to look in ~/.config/AIMP. I found a way to trick it and now it does remember them between sessions - with a symlink. After the symlink the config dir is inside the player's main dir and it works. But if I reset that and let it look back in ~/.config/AIMP, the next time I start the player it forgets everything.
Arch Linux.

Arch Linux.
Is it custom build? Or any well known distro?

No, it impossible. Ensure that you've run the app from correct user account.

I'm surprised you don't know about Arch Linux! :o It's a well known distro, even Valve made SteamOS based on Arch Linux.
As for the other thing - I've been with Linux in the past 11 years, so I know very well what I'm doing and how to run a program from any user.

It seems you've misunderstand me. Arch Linux is the foundation, the building block from which the final operating system is assembled. My question was whether I could deploy your OS exactly as it is from a pre-built image (like SteamOS), or whether I needed to build and configure everything manually from the source components.
In my test stand are two Arch-based OS: Manjaro and EndeavourOS, both OS has no issue with app's settings.
-
And it seems you don't understand what Linux is. The kernel is the OS, around which the distro is built - desktop, audio, video and so on. Arch Linux IS the final distro. The original, if you like. The only difference between it and Endeavour OS is that the latter has a graphical installer (Calamares), whereas the vanilla Arch requires manual installation by typing commands.

Ok. Enough. I cannot reproduce the issue and will not research for that by myself. Settings get not resets on OS that we supports.
-
Well, if you open the source code of the player, we'll fix any problems ourselves and won't bother your majesty with "unsupported" operating systems.
I suggest you sign up yourself on a Linux course first to understand the basics and what is what and then continue with the development. Cuz RN I feel like I'm talking to a wall. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if you asked me "But how can a computer start without Windows?".

So, what I can say here:
Linux is a construction, and you can customize it so that it doesn't work. It's not a developer's fault. Because the app works with distributions designed for ordinary users (not for geeks), we assume that there is something wrong with the configuration of your OS (which you probably assembled and customized). First, try what I suggest. This is not normal behavior. (Or do you think that we released a beta version without checking the basic settings?) In our testing stand, we have 15 of the most popular Linux distributions.
