Title: (Solved) (Android) Installed skin file location?
Post by: Kaylee83 on August 21, 2025, 15:06:28
I believe I have a skin that isn't available anymore and I'm trying to transfer it from one Android device to another. I've done it before, I just can't seem to find where it was at all this time. I went into android\data\com.aimp.player and the only folders were "files" and "cache". The files folder was empty, and of course the cache is just the cache. I've failed to find any other mention of AIMP anywhere else. Where are the skin files located? Thanks in advance.

It stored in /data/data/com.aimp.player/files/skins. Of course, users have to access to this folder without root rights. But you can try to take this skin via export backup.

I tried importing the backup I exported on the new device, and it doesn't do anything. I hit "IMPORT", then "YES" and it closes the window and nothing happens. I am not sure if a windows explorer is meant to pop up, or if it finds the zip automatically. If it helps, I'm trying to import settings on AIMP on my Quest 2 VR headset. I got the APK from Aptoide, so I don't know if it's because of a version difference or something. I assume I may be out of luck because of the very odd situation I'm in.

It possible only if both versions are same. I suggest you to open exported backup and extract required skin.

I did this and it appeared in the skin list, but it was incompatible and disabled itself. The version I had on my Quest 2 was 3.20, and the version on my phone was 4.20. I decided to just pack an APK of the AIMP on my phone and install it on my Quest 2, and then import the settings. Worked perfectly. The skin is there. (And as a cool bonus, so are all my playlists.) Thanks for your responses in trying to help me! I appreciate it.
