Title: [x] [2563] Smart playlist not reloaded automatically
Post by: xeo on October 17, 2024, 15:36:03
For at least a few versions, new/changed files on the desktop are not reloaded (refreshed) in the smart playlist (after some time of running AIMP). I have created a smart playlist with a desktop as source and set to monitor changes during operation and during startup. Changing/adding a file on the desktop is refreshed in the playlist only when I restart AIMP or reload the playlist manually (Reload data from preimage) or, for example, copy this file (perform more operations on the desktop). The playlist is not Locked from changes. Never had this problem before.

I noticed strange behavior in preimage settings. When I set desktop as a source the folder path looks normal:

When I restart AIMP it changes to some strange path (but reloading works):

I don't know if this is some another bug or is related to my main problem, but I have this only with this one smart playlist.

AIMP 5.30/2563, Windows 11.

Unfortunately, I does not reproduce the issue. What file system is used in system drive?

When I restart AIMP it changes to some strange path (but reloading works):

I've fixed that. Just now, you can enable absolute filenames in app settings.

NTFS

I enabled absolute filenames in app settings and now the path is ok after restart. I will observe if there is a problem with refreshing the playlist now and let you know.

Yep, thank you.

I discovered what this bug is, and that it is not related to the desktop, but to each location connected to each smart playlist.
Data is only reloaded when the appropriate smart playlist is selected. When another one is selected, the data is not reloaded automatically.

This is not entirely true, the player loads playlists on demand. If playlist is not loaded, smart-rules are not active. This is correct behavior, because unloaded playlist cannot be used, but if you activate it (the playlist will load it content and synchronize according the settings). Do you have the "sync on startup" option is set to true?

What do you mean by "playlist load/loaded/unloaded"?

Right Mouse Button over Playlist --> Managing Playlists

I guess that's not the point. After all, I'm constantly writing about the situation in which playlists are shown in the playlist window (in the video I perform operations on ACTIVE playlists).

Right Mouse Button over Playlist --> Managing Playlists

Playlists loads it content on demand. If no one to ask playlist content, content will not be loaded into app memory, but playlist will be displayed in app in tabs.

This is fixed, but I found another 2 things related.
1. Changing the case of the file name does not reload the data

2. Data reload opens the closed group when the playlist is active

Changing the case of the file name does not reload the data

Sure, because file names in Windows are not case-sensitive

What do you mean?
Aimp recognizes and shows appropriate file sizes, but not in this case. You can see it in my video - capital letters were shown by AIMP, but only after changing the file name (adding/removing a character).

Another thing. Isn't this a bug that when you delete a folder (with files) from synchronized smart playlist, the group folder isn't deleted from the playlist, not even files from playlist?

What do you mean?

I mean that changing case of file name will not generate change to reload smart-playlist content

Isn't this a bug that when you delete a folder (with files) from synchronized smart playlist

Is this folder set as root of monitoring? (Your video has been removed, so I cannot view it again).
If so, this behavior is by design. Windows does not generate any notifications if monitored folder has been removed.
