I have aimp on my phone. I can't figure out how to load the music from an external SSD.

Music library works with local files only. But in playlist, you can add files from any locations

thanks folks - I can now access the SSD. Since its about 1tb of music, I have to know what I a looking for and search for it - by artist for example. Is there any way to preserve the folder structure in a playlist? I'm guessing no? :(

I'm guessing no?
No. Playlist is a linear list

Its made because of performance issues with external providers.

Can I use a playlist file created in Windows with AIMP on Android? That would be nice.

Hello, yes, you can create the playlists on the PC. On the SD card, create a folder in the root directory with your music and, for clarity, a folder with the playlists. On the PC I not only use Mp3tag to properly tag the music files, I also use it to create playlists. In the "save as..." dialog in Mp3tag you have to select the ending m3u8 so that AIMP for Android can also read the playlists. To add new music, simply copy it to your Music folder and add the new titles to the playlist. To do this, open the old playlist again in Mp3tag, add the folders or files with the new titles to the entire sequence of listed titles and save the playlist by replacing the old list. Finally, start AIMP, delete the old entry from the old playlist and then add the newly updated list from the SD card via the dialog (import as a new playlist). If you have several entries and different playlists, you may have to sort them in the selection window, as newly created playlists are always added at the end. As a suggestion for Artem, it would be helpful if the preferred position (first, second, ...) could be specified numerically when adding new playlists. Have a nice weekend.
