Title: No sorting by file type?
Post by: xeo on March 27, 2024, 16:19:47
Hi, I wanted to sort my files list on the playlist the same as it is in the Windows window (sorted by type) and I noticed that in the AIMP there is no such meta macro for sorting. There is File format, but it's not the same.
Here on the left is Windows window with few different audio types sorted by type. On the right side is AIMP's playlist sorted by file format. The file order is not the same. The WAV format is after the OGG, at the end of the playlist.

Can "File type" or "Windows file type" be added to the macros for sorting and other templates?
I suggest adding such a function if possible.

In short, you are asking to add sorting based on the format description from the registry, not based on the file extension.

You probably should have created a request in the suggestions section and now wait for the developer to respond (with or without moving the topic to the suggestions section).

I didn't want to create a suggestion here, but first find out whether such a function already exists. If it doesn't exist, please move the thread to the suggestions section.
