Also tested on stable; same issue
Seems to have locked me into certain settings and is forcing me to use 7.1 Surround instead of stereo, which is causing some problems considering I use headphones and it errors out (will include a screenie of the error as the last attachment too to be sure, but I'm almost certain it's because my headphones are stereo on windows)
Am I doing something wrong? How do I get the other options to appear instead of just forced 7.1 Surround?

In WASAPI case, all parameters are defined on OS's side. Click the "..." button to invoke system settings applet

Guessed so, but the weird thing is I have the system settings for the headphone in stereo mode but it doesn't change on AIMP's side, even after a system restart
attached is a pic of the headphone config on windows (it is the default realtek driver device)

Same problem on me.See this : https://www.aimp.ru/forum/index.php?topic=71613.0

No, it does not

Still unsure on what to do, other audio options are only exclusive modes and pretending I have a 7.1 surround setup glitches some other apps, and I am sure I was able to change the setting on an earlier version last year
so sorry for bothering but idk what to do even though it's marked as solved, I loved using aimp and I'm so sad getting back to it that I can't use it without glitching my audio settings into 7.1
Edit: fixed by reinstalling audio drivers twice, sorry

Same problem with the latest x64 5.40 beta 1 and 2 builds (Windows 11 Pro x64). Actually WASAPI: Windows default are playing in stereo, but AIPM detects it as 7.1 and doesn't allow to change parameters, but you can change everything through windows Sound properties invoked via ... menu.

Screenshots attached. AIMP detects only 32 and 32 FLOAT bit, but in system I can actually select whatever I want. Speakers are set to Stereo and they actually play in stereo, but AIMP shows 7.1 sound. I use onboard Realtek chipset ALC4080 series.
-
But that's correct. In WASAPI mode, AIMP displays the settings that used in OS for output. It seems, that sound system has been configured like 7.1 surround, but only left and right speaker are enabled.
-
If I set WASAPI Exclusive event or push mode - yes everything is correct as per OS. But WASAPI: Windows default shows nonsense. System is configured as stereo.

In this case, all supported parameters are listed.
WASAPI: Windows default shows nonsense
It shows as OS set up.
System is configured as stereo
As I say before, system has set up for 7.1 playback, but only left + right channels are enabled. Anyway, in this case, the app shows the data that listed by OS.
