Title: Playback volume too quiet

I'm not sure why but AIMP appears to output a much lower volume compared to other apps.

Within AIMP I have volume set to maximum, and need to crank up the volume in Windows and my speakers to maximum to get it as loud as I want. Opening the same audio file in VLC feels about twice as loud - I have to immediately pause it or I think it will blow my speakers or my ears. If I turn VLC's main volume to 35% it's about equivalent to AIMP at 100%.

I've gone through all of the settings inside AIMP trying to find a slider somewhere that is set to a low volume, or some kind of volume normalisation which is happening, but can't see anything.


• In Sound effects > Sound effects, everything is on default and there are no DSP plugins
• In Sound effects > equalizer it is turned off
• In Sound effects > Volume, everything is unticked and volume is set to maximum
• In Preferences > Plaback, it's using WASAPI Windows Default, all checkboxes unticked

Hopefully I'm missing something simple!

In Windows Volume Mixer (right-click speaker icon in lower right screen corner) is the slider for AIMP all the way up?

Aha! No it was way down. That was the answer. Thanks so much  ;)

I always thought I had understood it well: three things will determine the overall volume: app, Windows volume, and amplifier/speaker volume. It turns out I was wrong, there's a fourth thing in the mix: the Windows Volume Mixer.
