I remmeber being able to have AIMP controls available on the lock screen.
Is that gone? I can't find any relevant settings.

AIMP does not have lock screen settings, because it does not have own lock screen implementation. You should check the permissions and settings on Android side.

If AIMP doesn't have those settings (I know for a fact it at least used to on my previous phone), why are you telling me to check security+lockscreen settings? I don't understand what are you saying.

There is some misunderstanding I guess.
On my previous phone running one of the previous Android versions, I had playback controls on the lockscreen. I can't find any settings for that in Android 12 and am confused where to find them, and by settings I mean a way to enable the controls.

Allright, but why does it not integrate in my case? I went through all settings and couldn't find anything relevant.

There are no dedicated lock screen media controls in newer versions of android, it just displays notifications instead.
Check your notifications settings.
