We are pleased to present you with the new version of the mobile AIMP for Android OS. Let’s take a closer look at the new features.
Sound Engine
Sound Fading
We have improved the sound effect — now the fade-out is applied when playback is paused too (optional, can be disabled in the program settings).
Gapless playback
One of the long-awaited features by users is gapless playback. To activate this feature, disable the fading effects as described in the prompt:
It is worth noting that since the mobile version does not have a “silence removal” feature, tracks should not have silence at the beginning or end, as this will prevent gapless playback.
Lyrics
We have redesigned song lyrics display in the default skin, now lyrics is displaying in a separate tab that can be accessed by tapping the button:
General features:
- More space for text for a more comfortable reading experience
- The full text of the song is always displayed
- Tapping on a line allows you to go to the corresponding moment in the song
(if lyrics has time stamps) - You can change the text size by pinch-to-zoom gesture.
At this moment, the innovation has been implemented in the default skin only, but we believe that it will be well-received by users and will soon be implemented by designers in their skins.
Playlists
Macros
We have added two new macros: %AlbumArtist and %BPM.
Internationalization
The string comparison has been transferred to the ICU (International Components for Unicode) library. Thanks to it, diacritics, ligatures and other language features will be processed correctly when sorting/grouping data (only for Android 7 and newer).
Custom templates for grouping and sorting
The “custom template” new item has been added to the bottom of the list of predefined options:
Here, you can specify an expression that will be used to sort/group the playlist entries:
Templates are available both individually for a playlist and as default settings.
Note that template operations are slower than regular predefined options. If you are experiencing performance issues when working with playlist content, try simplifying the expression or replacing it with a predefined option.
Music library

- Support for multiple genre values (up to 5 per track)
- Added the ability to disable the “all tracks” section for an Artist
Internationalization

Tag Editor
New fields
In addition to the track number in the album, the “disc number” field has been added. The music library and playlist have long taken this value into account when sorting data, but it was not possible to view the value of this field until now.
Album Arts
The “download from the internet” command has been added to the album art editing menu:
The editor uses the same data providers that are used to automatically search for album arts in the playlist / music library. However, options that control the downloading album arts from the Internet are ignored when using it in the Tag Editor.
Widgets
The grid of desktop widgets on Android depends on the specific launcher, device manufacturer settings, and differences in screen size and resolution. Additionally, some devices allow users to manually adjust the grid settings. As a result, widgets with the same grid size may look different on different devices. Some have bigger text, while others have smaller text.
To mitigate these issues and make the widget more user-friendly across different devices, we have introduced the ability to scale widget’s content:
Note that the widget content on maximal scaling may be truncated on some mobile devices.
Vertical widgets
Starting with this version, widgets will be available in a vertical layout too:
Vertical widgets supports sizes from 1×1 to 1×8.
